bringing back the blog

somewhere along the line of 2021, i started to miss blogging. it’s been quite a while since writing has been a regular part of my life, and what better time to pick it up again than 2022?

it’s occurred and reoccurred to me this past season how special it is and how much intentionality it takes to do new in your late 20s. the effort to try a new hobby, explore a new place or make a new friend. it’s the balance of building nostalgia and tradition, with open-minded growth. it’s uncommon and its undervalued.

i’m grateful for the new that 2021 brought. the new hobbies, the new adventures, the new seasons in a familiar place. it also brought new heartbreak and loneliness. i wish I could say i’m grateful for that too — the lessons that hard seasons taught me. i’m just not there yet.

i am, however, certain that 2022 will bring more good new. i want to run a half marathon and pick up pottery and see God’s word with new eyes. i want to share my poetry and visit a new city and start therapy.

i exhort my heart and my spirit to transcend the work and netflix status quo that has become the norm, and see the value that doing new brings.
